Prepare your sketch with numbered parts

Mark the important parts on the sketch with arrows and numbers. A clear arrow–number–target relationship helps parts be matched correctly.

Product sketch with parts marked using arrows and numbers
  • Use one arrow and one number for each part (1, 2, 3...).
  • The arrowhead should point directly to the part's target area.
  • You can use the same number with multiple arrows to indicate the same part in different areas of the sketch.
  • Place the numbers in spaces separate from the drawing as much as possible, so they remain legible.

When preparing your sketch

  • Try to show the main form and important part boundaries as clearly as possible.
  • Use lines that are as simple and clear as possible.
  • Make sure important design decisions are visible in the sketch.
  • Try to avoid using shading in the empty areas around the sketch.

You can describe the main geometry, your deliberate design decisions, and what the distinct parts are. This helps us tell drawing mistakes in the sketch apart from actual design decisions.

Your trial project will be kept for 24 hours.
